FamCal Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 June 2026 · App: FamCal: Nepali Patro (com.custavia.famcal) · iOS and Android

FamCal is a Nepali calendar (बित्ते पात्रो) with panchang, festivals, a date converter, world clocks, and shared family events and reminders. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • The calendar and panchang are computed on your phone and work fully offline. Only your family-facing things (events, clocks, connections) sync.
  • You start with an anonymous account — no name, no email, no sign-up. Linking Google later is optional.
  • No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs. We do not sell your data or build a profile of you.
  • We never use your precise location. Weather uses only a city name you choose.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it, from inside the app, at any time.

1. Who we are

FamCal is made and operated by Custavia. For any privacy question, data request, or complaint, contact us at hello@custavia.com. This mailbox is monitored.

2. Your account and sign-in

FamCal is designed so an elderly parent can start using it without typing anything.

  • Anonymous by default. When you first open the app, you tap Get Started and an anonymous account is created for you through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). You get a short public handle — your Samaya ID — that you can share to connect with family. No name, email, or password is required.
  • Linking Google is optional. If you choose to secure your account so it survives a lost or replaced phone, you can link a Google account. When you do, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google and store them on your account.
  • We never see or store a password. Sign-in is handled entirely by Firebase/Google; Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

3. What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work:

  • Account identifiers — your Samaya ID and the Firebase user ID. Plus your name, email and photo only if you link Google (see §2).
  • The profile you choose to add — your timezone, phone number(s), and birthday, only if you enter them. These are shown to family members you connect with.
  • Content you create — your events and reminders (titles, dates, times, recurrence), and your family connections, including the private nicknames you give people and reminders you set for them.
  • Basic device information — recorded when your account first registers, to operate and secure the service.

We do not collect your precise location or GPS. The world-clock and weather features use only a city name you choose.

4. What we do not collect

To be specific, FamCal does not collect:

  • Your precise location or GPS.
  • Your contacts — family members are added by hand or by sharing a Samaya ID.
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID) — we run no ads.
  • Behavioural tracking or analytics. There is no third-party analytics, crash-tracking, or advertising SDK in the app.
  • Your password — Firebase holds your sign-in credential, not us.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. How we use what we collect

  • To provide the app's features — your calendar, panchang, events, reminders, family sharing, and world clocks.
  • To sync your data across your own devices and to the family members you connect with.
  • To keep the service secure and working.

We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

6. Who we share it with

We rely on a deliberately small set of service providers ("processors"), strictly to run the app:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication) — to sign you in and manage your account.
  • FamCal's own backend — operated by Custavia, this stores your profile, events, and family connections so they can sync.
  • Open-Meteo — to fetch the weather for a city you add to your clocks. We send only the city name, never your identity or precise location.

That is the full list. There are no third-party analytics vendors and no advertising networks in FamCal. We do not sell your data.

7. Family sharing — what other people see

FamCal is built for families, so some things are meant to be shared. When you connect with someone:

  • They can see your name and the profile details you chose to add (such as timezone and phone numbers), your live local time, and any events you share with them or clocks you push to them.
  • The nickname you give a person is private to you — they never see what you have nicknamed them.
  • Setting up a family member's phone, or setting a reminder on a connected member's calendar, is only possible between people who are connected.

You can remove an event, a clock, or a family connection at any time in the app.

8. Notifications

Reminders, and the optional daily "morning brief", are delivered as local notifications scheduled on your own device.

9. Data security and retention

Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and retained while your account is active. You can remove individual events, clocks, and family connections at any time inside the app, or delete the whole account (see §10).

10. Your choices and deleting your data

  • In the app: sign out, remove events, or remove family connections at any time.
  • Delete your account and data: use Delete account in the app's menu. This erases your events, family connections and requests, reminders, clocks, and profile, and removes your authentication account — or email hello@custavia.com and we will do it for you.

11. Children

FamCal is a general-audience family utility and is not directed at children under 13.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the "Effective date" at the top will change accordingly. If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we will make it clear.
